Cranberry Orange Bread

This is a great tasting quick bread; perfect for the season.

I like to make this bread and give it to the host the holiday celebration.

Makes 1 loaf

-2 cups flour
-1/2 tsp salt
-1 1/2 tsp baking powder
-1/2 tsp baking soda
-1 cup sugar
-2 tbsp hot water {from the tap is fine}
-1/2 cup orange juice
-1/4 cup orange zest
-1/2 cup butter {for a healthier version, substitute apple sauce}
-1 egg
-1 cup fresh or frozen cranberries
-1/2 cup chopped nuts, optional {you choose what you like}

1. Mix flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda and sugar.
2. Add water, orange juice, zest, butter and egg; stir until moist.
3. Fold in cranberries and nuts.
4. Pour into a greased loaf pan.
5. Bake at 325 degrees for about 70 minutes. Print Friendly and PDF
