Hamburger OR Hot Dog Buns

These are very easy to make and they store great in the freezer!  I usually make a double batch (24 buns) and freeze at least half of them for later.  I just take them out of the freezer, put them on a baking sheet and put them in a 250-300 degree oven until warmed through.  So easy and so good!

You could probably even freeze the dough in bun sized pieces and bake the buns "fresh" when ready to use; just like those rolls you can buy where you just remove them from the freezer let them sit on the baking sheet and bake.

I do the dough in my bread-maker  to do it manually see the instructions with the original recipe here.

You can also make these into Onion Buns by adding 2 tbsp dried minced onions and 1/2 tsp onion salt (decreasing other salt in recipe to 1 tsp); just mixed into dough.

Ingredients:
-1 cup milk, warmed
-1/2 cup water, warmed
-1/4 cup butter, cut into small pieces
-2 tbsp sugar
-1 1/2 tsp salt
-1 egg
-4 1/2 cup flour (you could use wheat or other flour)
-2 1/4 tsp yeast

Process:
1. Combine all ingredients in the order list into the bread-maker pan.
2. Set bread-maker to the dough setting and let it run the cycle.
3. Remove the dough from the bread pan onto a lightly floured surface.
4. Divide dough into 12 pieces for 12 normal sized buns.
5. Form dough into the desired shape you want for your buns.
6. Place formed dough onto greased baking sheet. {If freezing dough you can do it at this point.}
7. Cover buns with a clean kitchen towel and let rise about 30 minutes.
8. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. {Placing the covered buns on the oven while preheating can speed up the rising time.}
 All risen and ready to bake.
9. To add sesame seeds or poppy seeds you can brush the risen buns with a beaten egg and sprinkle with seeds before baking.
 10. Bake for 12 minutes or until golden.
11. Cool for at least 10 minutes before cutting.
12. Enjoy! Print Friendly and PDF
