Garlic Bread Sticks

These are very good and especially because I do them in my bread-maker.

You can find the directions for making these without a bread-maker where I found the original recipe, here.

Bread Stick Ingredients:
-1 1/2 cups warm water
-2 tbsp sugar
-2 tbsp butter, thinly sliced or softened
-1 tbsp salt
-4 1/4 cups flour {for wheat bread sticks use 2 cups wheat flour and 2 1/4 cup white flour}
-2 1/4 tsp yeast

Topping:
-3 tbsp melted butter
-1/4 tsp garlic powder
-1/2 tsp salt

Process:
1. Layer the bread stick ingredients in the bread-maker pan in the order listed.
2. Set the bread-maker to the dough setting and let the cycle run until complete.

3. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
4. Prepare baking sheets by greasing {I also like to add cornmeal for the extra non-stick and the crunch}.
 5. Remove the dough from the bread pan onto an oiled surface.
 6. Divide the dough into 16 fairly equal pieces.
 7. Form each of the piece into a log about 6 to 8 inches long.
8. Cover with a clean kitchen towel and let rise for about 20-30 minutes. {The original recipe says to let these rise for an hour, but I find if you place the baking sheets on top of the preheating oven you can cut the rising time!}
9. In a small bowl combine the melted butter and the garlic powder, brush some of the mixture onto bread sticks.
10. Bake for about 15-20 minutes until lightly golden brown.
11. Remove bread sticks from oven, brush with the remaining butter and sprinkle with salt.
12. Enjoy!
